A carpentry business first — which is exactly why the buildings last.
Vertex Garden Rooms grew out of Oliver Smith's carpentry work, and that origin still shapes everything we build. A garden room is, at its heart, a piece of joinery: a timber-framed, insulated structure that has to stay warm, dry and square for decades. When the person quoting the job is the joiner who will frame it, the details get thought through before the first board is cut.
We work across Surrey from our base in Reigate — bespoke garden rooms, garden offices, summer houses and insulated outbuildings. Clients tell us the same things in review after review: a quote that's detailed and thorough, an owner who's always available to answer questions, a team that turns up when it says it will, and a finish that's meticulous down to the last trim. Ollie and the team are directly employed — the people who quote your build are the people who finish it.

What it's made of
The materials, named — because the spec is where corners get cut.
125mm insulated walls, floor & roof
Insulation runs through the whole envelope — walls, floor and roof — so the room holds heat in January and stays cool in July. A year-round room, not a summer-only shed.
Composite cladding or natural cedar
Anthracite composite cladding weathers without rot and needs no annual treatment; where a client wants warmth, we clad in western red cedar that silvers gracefully with age.
EPDM rubber flat roof
A single-piece EPDM membrane has no felt seams to split — the detail that decides whether a flat roof leaks in year eight or stays dry for thirty.
Aluminium bi-fold & French doors
Thermally broken aluminium frames in anthracite: slim sightlines, wide openings for summer, and a proper seal against Surrey winters.
Insulated, plastered interior
Skimmed and painted like a room in the house, with power, data and heating designed in — ready to work, train or relax the day you get the keys.

Based in Reigate, building across Surrey.
We're on Bell Street in Reigate and build throughout Surrey and the surrounds — Redhill, Horley, Dorking, Guildford, Epsom, Cobham, Weybridge, Woking, Crawley and Horsham — plus South London around Mitcham, and occasionally further afield for the right project.
