Started by a carpenter. Still run like one.
Vertex Garden Rooms is the garden-building arm of Oliver Smith Carpentry Solutions, based on Bell Street in Reigate. It began the way a lot of good trades businesses do — a skilled joiner, Oliver “Ollie” Smith, being asked to build something better than the flat-pack sheds people kept being sold. Since 2019 that's become a proper speciality: bespoke, fully insulated garden rooms across Surrey.
The carpentry roots are the whole point. A garden room is a piece of joinery before it's anything else — a timber-framed, insulated box that has to stay warm, dry and square for decades. Because the person who quotes your build is the joiner who frames it, the awkward details get thought through before the first board is cut, not improvised on site later.
What we refuse to compromise on is the bit you can't see once it's finished: proper insulation through the whole envelope, a seamless EPDM roof, and a base that's laid dead level. That's the difference between a room you use every day of the year and a shed you use for three months of it. And the team on your job are directly employed by us — not a rotating cast of subcontractors — which is why the finish is consistent and the standard holds from the first day to the last.

We're on Bell Street in Reigate and build throughout Surrey and the surrounds — Redhill, Horley, Dorking, Guildford, Epsom, Cobham, Weybridge, Woking, Crawley and Horsham — plus South London around Mitcham, and occasionally further afield for the right project.
